It is an honor and a great pleasure to inform everyone that AB Tunnelling – tunnel construction equipment – has been selected and awarded among the Winning Companies 2024 of Intesa Sanpaolo! “Imprese Vincenti” (“Winning Companies”) is a prestigious initiative by the Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo that, for the past five years, has recognized outstanding small and medium-sized Italian enterprises. The Winning Companies program is conducted in a tour format and this year visits 15 major Italian cities.
AB Tunnelling has been awarded as a “winning company” for the “industry” sector among the companies based in Lazio and Abruzzo selected for the event in Rome, which was held on Tuesday 17 September 2024, at the MAXXI, National Museum of 21st Century Arts.The event was broadcast live on Ansa.it and on the Intesa San Paolo website, and in the “physical” presence of a large audience of journalists and industry professionals.
Receiving the award from the hands of Roberto Gabrielli, Regional Director of Lazio and Abruzzo of Intesa Sanpaolo, was Andrea Bertoli, co-founder and Tunnelling Business Development Engineer of AB Tunnelling who, during his speech, presented the company’s activities and products, including:
– the range of components for TBMs (Tunnel boring machines) such as, for example, the RingX ® cutting ring, a patented product both in Italy and in Europe, designed to guarantee extremely high levels of performance during tunnel excavation;
– the sealing and sealing systems, including the brushes BrushX, which in combination with the tail sealant, form an excellent sealing system for filling the “annular gap” generated by tunnel excavation, guaranteeing durability and high performance;
– the prefabrication of tunnel segments for which we supply formwork, plant-based release agents, handling equipment, connection systems and gaskets, reinforcing fibres for concrete. Our Andrea Bertoli has also focused on the strengths of AB Tunnelling:

Bertoli also had the opportunity to mention two very important projects/case histories in which AB Tunnelling is actively participating:
1 – The Brenner Base Tunnel, Mules 2-3 lot, one of the most important railway tunnel projects in Europe, for which AB Tunnelling is contributing with the supply of very high-performance cutting edges (patented RingX ® cutting edges) called to tackle particularly hard and abrasive rock on the excavation face and to increase the productivity of the TBM and the safety of the workers in the tunnel.
2- The Refurbishment of the methane pipeline line with SNAM SpA: In collaboration with other construction companies of national importance, AB Tunnelling has been involved in the refurbishment of an important strategic infrastructure for the safety and energy transition of Italy, providing innovative technologies for the production of prefabricated lining segments, for their connection and waterproofing underground.
In the moments following AB Tunnelling’s intervention, including the networking among professionals, we were very satisfied to note the real interest in our solutions and, in particular, in the RingX ® patent, true “diamond tips” at the service of TBMs and tunnel excavation work.
